This week's headline is a redesigned interface for RentEngine Applications on the property manager side. Your team now spends less time clicking through tabs and more time making decisions on applicants.

We also updated the Rental Applications dashboard with better filtering and sorting, added a new leasing event type for Section 8, and improved Command Center performance.

Here’s what’s new in RentEngine.

Redesigned Rental Applications interface

We've redesigned the Rental Applications interface that your team uses to review and process applications. The update focuses on three things: a cleaner visual hierarchy that flags what needs your review, notes and follow-ups from the Command Center built directly into the application view, and a faster workflow for reviewing and approving applicants.

Clearer visual hierarchy with intentional use of color.

The new design uses far less color throughout the interface, so that when something does appear highlighted, it means it needs your input. Verified items stay quiet. Unverified items, missing documents, and fraud flags stand out immediately.

The redesigned interface uses color sparingly so flags and action items stand out.

Notes and follow-ups from the Command Center.

You can now manage notes and follow-ups directly inside the application view — the same notes and follow-ups your team already uses in the Command Center. Everything is linked to the lead and applicant, so there's no switching between screens to add context or track communication.

Faster review workflows.

The review and decision workflow has moved to the top right of the screen for quicker access. Income verification is laid out more clearly, with approved items, pending items, and flags each in their own section. The chain of record — linking selfie, ID, screening, and income verification — is now visible directly in the application view.

The new Application Decision flow gives your team a clear set of actions in one step.

We also made it easier to move applications between properties and simplified the address editing flow.

Rental Applications dashboard updates

The applications dashboard at has several updates based on customer feedback:

"Total Applicants" is now "Submitted Applicants" and displays an X/Y format — where X is the number of applicants who have fully submitted and paid, and Y is the total number of invited applicants. This gives you a clear picture of group progress at a glance.

Sub-team and agent filtering. You can now filter the dashboard by sub-team or by individual agent, making it easier to manage applications across larger teams.

Sort by column. Every column in the dashboard is now sortable, matching the behavior you're used to in Intelligence reports.

Move-in date column. A new column at the end of the table shows each applicant's move-in date.

New leasing event type: pending Section 8 approval

You can now log "Pending Section 8 Approval" as a leasing event in the Command Center.

This event type doesn't trigger any automated follow-ups. It's a way to track leads who are in the Section 8 approval process without those leads getting caught up in your standard follow-up sequences.

Command Center performance

The Command Center now loads significantly faster. Messages are cached, so when you click into a conversation, switch to another lead, and come back, the previous conversation loads instantly instead of re-fetching.

Company branding: logo background fix

If your company logo is white on a transparent background, it no longer disappears against the white interface. The system now handles white logos correctly so your branding displays as expected.

RentEngine AI prompt updates

We reviewed and shipped prompt updates across several categories:

Better use of property-specific data. RentEngine AI now references your configured pet policies, income requirements, and seasonal rates directly instead of sending generic browse links or vague responses. For example, if a prospect asks about pets and your portfolio has a 3-pet cap, AI states that cap instead of redirecting to a listing page.

Smarter escalation logic. RentEngine AI no longer escalates on filler replies like "yeah" that don't contain an actionable request. It also no longer proactively offers to connect ineligible prospects with a team member when there's no path forward.

Fair housing compliance. RentEngine AI now uses "ESA" or "ESA animals" — never "ESA pets," which is a fair housing compliance issue. It also correctly communicates that location sharing is required for self-guided tours and that applications must be completed online.

Conversation handling. AI now offers alternative units when a prospect's needs don't match (e.g., parking unavailable) instead of ending the conversation. It also handles simple acknowledgments like "Thank you" or "Ok" without repeating pending actions or re-asking for information it already has.

RentEngine AI is constantly learning and being trained based on real conversations. If you see a response that isn't right, tap the thumbs down icon on the message to flag it. Our team reviews every flag and updates the prompts accordingly.
